POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a

Director

at LJA

Transportation , you will lead and shape the growth of LJA’s Bridge Inspection Program. You will collaborate with a team of professionals to support business development, marketing, and the strategic management of projects and teams to deliver best‑in‑class services to public agencies. In this role, you will set the tone for a strong culture of safety, ensure technical excellence, optimize resources, and mentor staff to reach their full potential. You will serve as a key driver in expanding LJA’s bridge inspection program.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

Serving as technical resource for bridge inspections

Establishing, documenting, and implementing bridge inspection procedures and quality control practices for bridge inspections

Developing, training, and leading inspection staff

Supporting LJA’s bridge inspection practice

May serve as Project Manager for identified contracts and pursuits

Managing, scheduling and performing bridge inspections

Preparing and reviewing bridge inspection reports

Performing or checking load ratings

Supporting in the implementation of strategic plans and business plans

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas

Qualified Bridge Inspection Team Lead in the State of Texas

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

12+ years of progressive structural engineering experience

7+ years of NBIS bridge inspection experience. Experience performing bridge inspections in Texas is desired

Recent experience with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and Specifications for National Bridge Inspection (SNBI)

Current on NBIS Requirements to Serve as a Qualified Team Lead

Proven leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities, with strong communication and cross‑functional partnership skills

Proficiency with load ratings and load rating software

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

Strong attention to detail, exceptional work ethic, and proven ability to mentor others

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
