Reports to: Director of Student Conduct & Community Standards

Description of Work
Responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards, overseeing investigations related to violations of academic integrity and responsible conduct for all University of Nebraska – Lincoln students.

Key Responsibilities

Provide prompt, equitable, and impartial investigations into allegations regarding violations of the Student Code of Conduct.

Meet with students and witnesses to gather information; determine educational outcomes.

Prepare formal, written findings after investigations.

Present information in University Conduct Board Hearings.

Coordinate assessment efforts in the office, including tactics to demonstrate and measure student learning.

Supervise, evaluate, and train full‑time professional and administrative staff.

Recruit, train, and manage volunteer members of the Investigation Team.

Oversee departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations such as the Clery Act, First Amendment, FERPA, Title IX, VAWA, and related legislation.

Engage in outreach and education for students, faculty, and staff.

Maintain current knowledge of student conduct by attending conferences, workshops, and professional training.

Serve as Acting Director in the absence of the Director.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in higher education, criminal justice, psychology, policy and law, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years investigatory experience, including conducting interviews, policy interpretation, data gathering, and analysis. Experience with due process procedures and educational development principles pertaining to college students. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and success in working with diverse constituencies. Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships at all University levels. Knowledge of student conduct databases. Experience working with University Conduct Boards. Progressively supervised staff. Excellent judgment for sensitive and confidential information. Strong conflict‑resolution, problem‑solving, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Advanced investigatory experience (5+ years) including interviewing, policy interpretation, data gathering, and investigative reporting. Experience recruiting participants for conduct boards. Knowledge of developing new processes in a database system such as Maxient. Professional experience conducting university‑level investigations. Experience teaching or training faculty, staff, students, or student organizations. Knowledge or experience with restorative practices, mediation, or alternative dispute resolution.
