America’s second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year‑round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot‑machine gaming facility and 13 off‑track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

Job Summary
The Social Media Intern will assist the Marketing Department during the live racing meet by creating engaging digital content that showcases the excitement of racing, gaming, events, and guest experiences at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Capture and create content for various social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and others.

Film, photograph, edit, and publish social media posts, reels, videos, and stories.

Conduct on‑camera and off‑camera interviews with guests, team members, jockeys, trainers, entertainers, and other featured personalities.

Write engaging and brand‑appropriate captions and social media copy.

Assist with real‑time event coverage during live racing and special events.

Monitor social media trends and help develop creative content ideas.

Maintain a professional and positive representation of the Fair Grounds brand.

Respond professionally and appropriately to comments, messages, and interactions in a timely manner.

Work collaboratively with the Marketing team on content calendars and promotional campaigns.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

21 years of age or older.

Legal ability to obtain a Louisiana State Racing License.

Strong interest in social media, digital marketing, sports, entertainment, or content creation.

Experience with photography, videography, and editing using mobile devices, and/or editing software preferred.

Basic knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar editing tools.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Comfortable interacting with guests, animals, and conducting interviews.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and live racing/event schedules as needed.

Ability to work in various environments throughout the property, including the slot floor and barn area.

Education And Experience
High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree or current pursuit of a college degree needed.

Familiarity with Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, and short‑form video content required.

Basic knowledge of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar editing tools, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced entertainment environment while meeting deadlines.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Work involves lifting, walking, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, and climbing. Must lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Equipment used regularly includes computer, telephone and copier. Environment: Office/Casino; subject to outdoor temperature; exposed to smoke, bright lights and noise at times. Occasionally work in extreme heat or cold conditions.
