Job Overview
The Office of Communications seeks a Visual Communications Manager to develop, plan and administer the overall visual communications program for the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). The role includes supervising a visual communications team and managing graphic design, video production, and digital media efforts to promote agency programs and initiatives.
Responsibilities
Manage the visual communications team and oversee all projects, including graphic design, video production, advertising materials, and brand standards.
Advise agency staff and senior management on creative services and coordinate with the marketing manager to produce promotional content.
Consult with stakeholders and clients to identify creative service needs.
Ensure brand standards and communication policies are adhered to across all productions.
Direct and supervise creative services staff, providing technical and creative guidance, delegating tasks, evaluating performance, and facilitating staff development and recruitment.
Lead full‑scale video production with videographers, managing scheduling, scripting, storyboarding, filming, audio engineering, and editing.
Collaborate with the Office of Communications team to produce and promote materials for the ODH Podcast.
Serve as a technical liaison to resolve complex audio‑visual equipment issues.
Qualifications
48 months of training or experience in electronic graphics AND 24 months of training or experience in web site creation, design, or development.
OR completion of an associate core program in visual communication technology or multimedia production technology AND 48 months of training or experience in web site creation, design, or development.
OR completion of an undergraduate core program in visual communications with an emphasis on graphic design or industrial design AND 48 months of training or experience in web site creation, design, or development.
OR equivalent of the minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
