Responsibilities
- Develop and utilize tools and technologies to improve art asset production workflow.
- Make decisions on graphics and rendering techniques based on project requirements.
- Analyze competitive products and recommend improvements to senior management.
- Spearhead R&D for tools, content, and new technologies related to art and aesthetics.
- Collaborate with art leads to establish shared culture and best practices.
- Work with engineering to develop cutting‑edge tools and technology.
- Coordinate with other content producers to ensure proper game performance and optimization.
- Identify and design solutions to pipeline and technology deficiencies within the studio.
- Research future solutions and cutting‑edge art technology.
- Review pipelines and asset production processes to identify best practices.
- Train other technical artists.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical art.
- Shipped at least one AAA game as a principal technical artist/technical art director.
- Experience with open‑world environment production.
- Strong understanding of proprietary tools and technology.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with modern 3D software packages (Maya, 3D Studio Max, Blender, Motion Builder, zBrush, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of the game development process.
- Strong grasp of performance and pipeline optimization.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, C#, or others.
- Solid background in photo‑realistic rendering.
- Strong knowledge of modern 3D engines and their underlying technology.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of current rendering techniques and development processes.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Detail‑oriented with strong teamwork, scheduling, and budget‑adherence skills.
- Enthusiastic gamer with a strong interest in computer or video games.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
- Passion for creating and playing great games, with awareness of current titles and industry trends.
Location
US-California-Los Angeles
Compensation
Expected base pay range: $138,800.00 to $261,400.00 per year. Employees may be eligible for a sign‑on payment, relocation package, and restricted stock units. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, as well as participation in a 401(k) plan. Vacation ranges from 15 to 25 days per year, with 13 holidays and 10 paid sick days.
