Job Overview The Personal Lines Account Manager I provides critical support to clients, manages a book of insurance business, and facilitates positive and effective relationships with sales and/or account team colleagues.
Responsibilities Work alongside producers, if assigned, and serve as HUB’s primary contact to the client.
Provide professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, maintaining a rate of account retention that meets or exceeds expectations.
Handle account rounding and develop new business in accordance with standard practices, policies, and procedures.
Oversee preparation and implementation of all transactions, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts.
Acquire an understanding of clients’ business and insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans to determine suitability.
Act as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues requiring policy interpretation and experience‑based judgment.
Negotiate with underwriters and carriers as needed.
Troubleshoot claims and billing issues.
Ensure overall retention of accounts in the assigned book of business.
Develop new business from existing accounts and assigned leads, contributing to departmental production goals.
Identify and follow up on cross‑selling opportunities when appropriate.
Maintain accurate and organized account files by documenting conversations with clients and carrier representatives; update all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems; ensure data accuracy.
Prepare annual review reports and conduct client meetings to review the insurance program and make appropriate recommendations for improvement.
Prepare reports for management as required.
Oversee functions performed by less‑experienced Account Managers and Client Support Specialists as required.
Stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and external conditions that may impact clients, and make appropriate recommendations.
Attend industry‑related continuing education training and courses.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications High school diploma or GED; college degree strongly preferred.
1–3 years in an insurance account management role (brokerage experience preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Currently licensed in good standing in required lines and states.
Experience with HNW, E&S, Agency Bill and broad marketing/carrier knowledge and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effective oral and written communication with internal and external customers.
Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and agency management systems; ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands This position primarily involves a stationary position for the majority of the workday. The employee frequently communicates with colleagues and clients in person and by telephone. The role requires regular computer use and occasional movement within the office to access file cabinets and office machinery.
