Strategic Communications Specialist – San Diego, CA Key to an organization’s growth is strong stakeholder communication that represents and supports its mission, values, and objectives. As a communications professional, you will design, develop, and produce internal communications and media that support a technology‑focused acquisition program office in the Department of the Navy (DON). Your work will translate technical jargon into clean copy, craft compelling messages for executives and workforce, and develop strategic communications that advance the DON Acquisition Community.
Responsibilities Develop creative solutions to complex communication challenges.
Nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and senior leaders to advance client goals and organizational change.
Translate technical content into clear, audience‑appropriate messaging using storytelling principles.
Draft error‑free communications, including executive briefings, charters, and workforce messages.
Anticipate client needs and take initiative in delivering strategic communications.
Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a professional communications environment.
2+ years of experience in strategic communications.
Experience supporting the Department of the Navy (DON) or another service branch.
Knowledge of communications industry standards, trends, and best practices.
Ability to quickly establish trust with senior leaders and anticipate their needs.
Secret clearance required.
Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred).
Nice To Have 7+ years of professional communications experience.
5+ years in strategic communications.
Experience using PowerApps, such as Power BI, to create engaging dashboards.
Master’s degree.
Clearance Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; a Secret clearance is required.
Compensation and Benefits Salary range: $55,300.00 to $126,000.00 (annualized USD).
