Job Title

Studio Technician / Director – Full Time

Location

Washington, DC. The role is with WUSA9, the TEGNA‑owned CBS affiliate.

Responsibilities

  • Direct live newscasts, recorded productions, live streams, cut‑ins, and commercial projects.
  • Ensure effective interaction between the control room and multiple departments.
  • Determine camera angles, lighting and set arrangement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Equipment and Systems Proficiency

  • Robotic studio cameras
  • Studio lighting
  • Control Room automation (Sony ELC, Ross Overdrive, Grass Valley Ignite)
  • Video Switcher
  • Knowledge of Chyron (plus)
  • Non‑linear editing skills (plus)
  • Experience with ENPS and Bit Central server systems (plus)

Requirements

  • Effective leadership and communication during a crisis.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in various aspects of television production preferred; at least two years required.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork with Producers.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Personal integrity, accountability, problem‑solving, strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders and lifts.

Compensation

Pay range: $38 – $40 USD.
