Studio Technician / Director – Full Time
Location
Washington, DC. The role is with WUSA9, the TEGNA‑owned CBS affiliate.
Responsibilities
- Direct live newscasts, recorded productions, live streams, cut‑ins, and commercial projects.
- Ensure effective interaction between the control room and multiple departments.
- Determine camera angles, lighting and set arrangement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Equipment and Systems Proficiency
- Robotic studio cameras
- Studio lighting
- Control Room automation (Sony ELC, Ross Overdrive, Grass Valley Ignite)
- Video Switcher
- Knowledge of Chyron (plus)
- Non‑linear editing skills (plus)
- Experience with ENPS and Bit Central server systems (plus)
Requirements
- Effective leadership and communication during a crisis.
- Minimum of five years of experience in various aspects of television production preferred; at least two years required.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork with Producers.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Personal integrity, accountability, problem‑solving, strong work ethic.
- Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders and lifts.
Compensation
Pay range: $38 – $40 USD.
