Director of Digital Transformation
The Director of Digital Product leads the enterprise-wide digital engineering product ecosystem, owning the digital platforms and capabilities that support the full product lifecycle from engineering through manufacturing and service. This role is accountable for defining the strategy, operating model, and long-term investment decisions that enable scalable, model-centric, and data-driven ways of working across the organization. The Director partners closely with senior business, engineering, and digital and IT leaders to ensure technology investments align with business priorities and deliver measurable outcomes. Reporting to the senior executive responsible for digital and information strategy and serving as a member of the digital and IT leadership team, this position offers the opportunity to shape enterprise-wide digital engineering capabilities with broad impact on products, platforms, and operating performance.
Responsibilities
Define and own the enterprise digital product strategy for engineering platforms and capabilities, including PLM, ALM, CAD, and the supporting ecosystem, ensuring alignment with business strategy and long-range product plans.
Establish and govern a multi-year product vision, roadmap, and investment strategy that balances innovation, platform sustainability, technical debt reduction, and business value realization.
Maintain accountability for the overall health and performance of the engineering digital product portfolio, including adoption, cost efficiency, engineering productivity, quality outcomes, and time-to-market.
Lead the evolution of the digital engineering operating model, including governance structures, funding models, agile-at-scale practices, and value measurement approaches.
Enable and scale the digital thread, ensuring seamless continuity from CAD-driven engineering bills of materials through manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and service.
Drive the adoption and advancement of systems engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), PLM, ALM, and CAD platforms that support virtual build, virtual testing, model-based definition (MBD), and platform-based product development.
Serve as the executive decision and escalation authority for cross-domain prioritization, capacity trade-offs, and platform investment decisions.
Partner with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and external partners to ensure platforms are secure, resilient, compliant, and future-ready.
Influence and help shape vendor and partner roadmaps so they align with enterprise needs and long-term digital engineering strategies.
Guide release planning and manage dependencies across teams to ensure predictable delivery and alignment across business units and delivery teams.
Drive roadmap transparency so stakeholders clearly understand priorities, timelines, and trade-offs across the digital engineering product portfolio.
Establish value-based prioritization frameworks, KPIs, and success metrics, using data and user feedback to drive continuous improvement and maximize business impact.
Lead, mentor, and develop product leaders, including product managers and product owners, while shaping the design and structure of the product organization.
Essential Skills
Proven leadership experience owning and delivering digital product strategies for complex engineering platforms and ecosystems.
Deep expertise with product lifecycle management (PLM) platforms and related digital engineering tools.
Hands-on experience with application lifecycle management (ALM) and computer-aided design (CAD) platforms in an enterprise context.
Demonstrated ability to define and manage multi-year product visions, roadmaps, and investment strategies balancing innovation and sustainability.
Strong track record in improving adoption, cost efficiency, engineering productivity, quality outcomes, and time-to-market through digital platforms.
Experience designing and evolving digital operating models, including governance, funding approaches, agile-at-scale practices, and value measurement.
Practical knowledge of systems engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) in support of digital product development.
Experience enabling a digital thread from engineering through manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and service.
Executive-level decision-making capability for prioritization, capacity trade-offs, and platform investment choices.
Ability to collaborate effectively with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and external partners.
Strong skills in establishing KPIs, success metrics, and value-based prioritization frameworks informed by data and user feedback.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop product managers and product owners in a complex, cross-functional environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with digital platforms such as PLM and related tools from vendors like PTC or similar providers.
Background in digital platform strategy and ecosystem management across engineering and manufacturing domains.
Familiarity with virtual build, virtual testing, model-based definition (MBD), and platform-based product development practices.
Experience in shaping vendor and partner roadmaps to align with enterprise digital engineering needs.
Exposure to agile-at-scale frameworks and practices for managing large, cross-functional product portfolios.
Experience participating in or contributing to a digital and IT leadership team or similar senior leadership forums.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Medina, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $180000.00 - $225000.00/yr.
40% bonus on yearly salary.
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Medina, MN.
