Position Summary
Full‑time, 40‑hour work week, onsite at Ithaca, NY. Hybrid activities possible, but the employee will be expected to be on campus regularly. Fully remote work is not available.

Who we are
OFDD provides a range of resources and programs—including training and support for individual faculty, department chairs, and deans—in faculty development and diversity. We work with faculty, chairs, and search committees to improve recruitment and retention practices, increase diversity in faculty hiring, and guide academic leadership and individual faculty on mentoring, tenure, and promotion processes. We also offer professional development programming and grant opportunities for faculty and academic staff.
Purpose and Goals
Reporting to the Senior Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development and Diversity, the Program Coordinator supports the planning, development, and implementation of high‑quality programs for Cornell’s faculty. The coordinator creates promotional content, prepares reports, demonstrates initiative and independent decision‑making, and implements projects that facilitate communication and collaboration across the university.
Key responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service, managing confidential material, preparing budget reports, organizing complex events and meetings, managing web and departmental event calendars, developing departmental databases, coordinating grant processing, and serving as a primary liaison among multiple units.
Responsibilities
With overall direction from the SAVP OFDD, this position will provide comprehensive high‑level support for the Senior Associate Vice Provost (SAVP)—both administrative and programmatic. Duties include drafting newsletters, invitations, website content, reports, speech support, publicity materials, and correspondence. The role also serves as the primary point person and liaison to facilitate collaboration among multiple units and constituents involved in delivering faculty and academic staff programs.
Required Qualifications
Strong commitment to working across differences and ability to positively interact with faculty and constituents on the Cornell campus.
Proven ability to manage a high volume of work in a timely manner, determine priorities, work independently and collaboratively.
Understanding of faculty career progression and needs; excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Outstanding organizational, problem‑solving, and customer service skills; attention to detail; experience overseeing complex programs and events.
Discretion, sound judgment, and a proven track record of handling confidential information.
Fluency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher), Qualtrics survey, web management, and Zoom.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience writing original, persuasive content for publishable articles and reports.
Experience working with or in support of faculty; academic or applied background in higher education, faculty development, communication, or related disciplines.
