Majic Productions is a sound, video, and lighting production company that specializes in creative and custom events. Lead Technicians are an important part of making the "Majic" happen! They are expected to make confident technical and operational decisions, uphold the highest standards of quality, maintain clear and timely communication, and foster a positive, solutions-focused environment for both staff and clients.

LEADERSHIP

Work with Account Managers, Project Managers and Production Managers to ensure all information is confirmed prior to show date as needed

Communicate, answer questions, and problem solve with clients

Lead Majic, freelance and union crews onsite during setup, run and strike

Understand strengths and weaknesses of staff

Assign tasks to staff to use their strengths

Look for training opportunities to improve their weaknesses

Provide feedback to upper management as needed on staff member performance

During a show run, follow a script and call the show while operating equipment

Fill out Post Show Jotforms as needed, or ensure someone on the jobsite is taking care of it

Check email daily and respond as necessary

Stay up to date on schedule changes via email, text, or When I Work

TECHNICAL

High level operator in at least one category: audio, lighting or video

Moderate understanding of all categories: audio, lighting, video, rigging and power

Build Applied goal posts and raise to height

Build LA25 and raise to height

Deploy sumner with rigging and raise to height

Airwall rigging best practices

Install rigging point in truss ceiling

Power systems

Tie in camlock with feeder

Tie in lugs with feeder tails

Operate all generators

Test voltage prior to plugging in equipmentProperly load circuits

Operate and manage power distribution (Lex, Motion Labs, Link)

WAREHOUSE

Follow all direction given by Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Technicians, Technical Director and Production Managers

Know and understand quality control (QC) procedures - ensuring all gear is properly checked over upon return from jobsites and again before shipping out

Loading and unloading of vehicles as necessary, including semis, box trucks, sprinter vans, passenger vehicles, etc

Maintain a clean and safe working environment

Ability to read and understand Pullsheets

Ability to accurately pull equipment, both individually and as part of a team

Ability to review Show Folder documents and make suggestions as necessary for the success of a show

ONSITE

Set up, run and strike audio, video, lighting equipment and scenic elements

Ability to read and understand show orders, show sheets and diagrams to effectively and efficiently setup the show

Effectively communicate with coworkers, clients and venue personnel as needed

Uphold a high standard of workmanship and workplace safety at all times under Majic Productions

Fill out Maintenance & Repair Jotforms as needed

Fill out Post Show Jotforms as needed

Maintain a professional appearance at all times, per the dress code policy

BASELINE ABILITIES

Demonstrate a willingness to learn

Possess a valid driver's license AND be trained to safely operate all fleet vehicles necessary for transportation, pickup, and delivery of production equipment. This includes box trucks, sprinter vans, passenger vehicles and towing equipment as applicable.

Must be comfortable working from heights (ladders and lifts)

GEAR KNOWLEDGE

Know all cable types at Majic Productions as well as our color coding system

Operate SQ5 with 4 microphones and audio playback devices without feedback

Change frequency on wireless microphones as needed

Setup large CDD live package

Video system

Operate PLS350 with 4 laptops and 2 cameras

Knowledgeable in PowerPoint

Knowledgeable in Playback Pro

Setup fastfold screens, projectors(8500 lumen and below), monitors, cameras and FOH

Operate Stagesetter with stage wash and controllable uplights

Properly cable and address lights and dimmers

Setup wireless uplights

Focus four light stage wash

Properly bolt truss together

Properly crimp aircraft cable

Familiar with steel, spansets, shackles, cheeseboroughs, griplocks, turnbuckles
