Remote Sales & Marketing Intern - Startup Growth

Kruiz · California, MO, USA · Remote ·

Job type:
Full Time

Kruiz is an early-stage startup building the future of pet-first travel — making it simpler for pet owners and their veterinary clinics to handle everything that goes into traveling with a pet. We're a small, fast-moving team, and this is a rare chance to get in early and see how a startup is built from the ground up.

How we work
We're building pet-first travel with a small team that moves fast and doesn't take itself too seriously (dogs on camera encouraged). Early-stage means no playbook, shifting priorities, and a lot of "let's figure it out together" — that's the fun part. You'll get real ownership from week one, direct access to the founders and the Marketing Lead, and feedback that helps you get sharp fast. We hire for curiosity, initiative, and follow-through. If you want structure and hand-holding, this isn't it; if you want to learn fast by doing, you'll fit right in.

The role
We're looking for a Sales & Marketing Intern to support our go-to-market efforts, with a primary focus on sales lead generation and secondary support on marketing. You'll report directly to our Marketing Lead, work closely with the founding team, and have real ownership over your projects — not busywork.

What you'll do

Research and build lists of prospective clients and partners that fit our target profile

Help identify and qualify leads, and keep our CRM/prospect data clean and organized

Support outbound outreach — drafting emails, tracking responses, and helping schedule demosAssist with marketing: social posts, simple content, and light campaign support

Pull together market and industry research to sharpen how we position ourselves

Share what you're hearing — you'll be close enough to the customer to actually shape how we sell

What you'll get out of it

Real, resume-worthy experience owning projects end to end — not fetching coffee

Hands-on access to modern AI tools, and coaching on how to actually use them well — automating research, drafting outreach, and speeding up content — so you leave with skills most new grads don't have yet

Concrete sales skills you can point to: sourcing and bringing in your own leads, doing outreach, and sitting in on (and working toward running) demos and closing conversations

A front-row seat to how an early-stage startup goes to market, straight from the founding team

Foundational marketing and sales chops: lead gen, CRM, positioning, and content

Soft skills that transfer anywhere — professional communication, managing a pipeline, handling objections, and following a deal from first touch to close

Direct mentorship from the Marketing Lead, and Founding team with regular feedback on your work

A real look at startup and pet-tech careers to help you figure out what you want next

A strong reference and a portfolio of work you can point to — for students, eligible for academic credit

Qualifications

Current student (or recent grad) in business, marketing, communications, entrepreneurship, or a related field — though we care more about drive than major

Strong written communication and sharp attention to detail

Organized and self-directed — comfortable owning tasks and managing your time in a remote setting with minimal hand-holding

Comfortable with basic tools (email, spreadsheets/Google Sheets, and willingness to learn a CRM); familiarity with LinkedIn, outreach tools, or AI tools is a plus

Curious about startups, pet tech, or the veterinary/pet space — a genuine interest in the mission (and animals) goes a long way

Reliable, coachable, and eager to learn by doing

Able to commit to the weekly time expectations below and available for our three standing team meetings

Fully remote, with flexible hours that work around your class schedule

Roughly 10–15 hours per week

Unpaid / eligible for academic credit

Reports to the Marketing Lead, with direct exposure to the founding team

Three team meetings per week (video, remote) for meetings, 1:1's, and all hands — attendance expected so you stay in sync with the team

Responsiveness during agreed working windows, and a quick end-of-week update on what you moved forward

A learning mindset: come with questions, take feedback well, and take initiative

Duration: 3 months, with the option to extend based on fit and performance
