Freelance Documentary-Style Editor

We're looking for a freelance documentary-style editor (story-first).

7ate9 Entertainment is looking for a freelance story-driven documentary editor to collaborate on a short-form documentary project for a well-known fashion jewelry brand.

The ideal collaborator has a strong instinct for story—someone who knows how to shape narrative from interviews, observational footage, and the moments in between. You should be comfortable working closely with directors and producers to develop structure, refine pacing, and uncover the emotional arc within unscripted material. Experience as a story producer is highly valued, and documentary shooting experience is a welcome bonus.

We're looking for someone to jump into a short-term, 2‑4 day, non‑union project with us—someone who doesn't just cut footage, but knows how to find the story.

You're the kind of editor who:

Thinks like a documentary storyteller or story producer

Knows pacing, emotional arcs, and how to make audiences care

Is collaborative, fast, and comfortable working with evolving stories

Bonus points if you also shoot. We love people who understand the full documentary process from production through post.

This is a contract project to start, but if it's a great fit, we're looking to build a long‑term relationship with ongoing freelance work.
