Marketing and Membership Manager

The Colorado Railroad Museum is seeking a Marketing and Membership Manager. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Marketing and Membership Manager will support and grow the Museum's promotions, marketing, public relations and membership program.

This position is a "process over projects" assignment; while deadlines are important, critical thinking, new ideas and constant critique are essential.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Create and manage annual marketing/public relations/advertising program and budget
Provide marketing, communications, and advertising support across all Museum functional areas
Coordinate with contracted PR firm to support and assist these efforts
Develop and manage annual special event awareness and ticketing campaigns, such as Day Out With Thomas and The Polar Express Train Ride
Manage promotion of all Museum public events, and assist with day-of event support, as needed
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for Museum marketing and advertising campaigns, including Google Grants and Analytics, Facebook, and other social media channels
Website and Brand Standards Oversight
Write and edit press releases, web copy, fact sheets and content for Museum collateral
Write, oversee, and manage production of Museum's seasonal membership magazine
Create and update basic in-house and external collateral
Oversee timely overhauls, updates and edits to Museum website in coordination with contracted web support team and in-house staff
Manage, oversee, and create content for the Museum's social media platforms
Coordinate and schedule two monthly email newsletters with updates for supporters
Leadership, Coordination and Representation
Serve as staff lead to one staff member, and manage freelance designers and various vendors, including translation services
Collaborate with and oversee development of Public Relations campaigns and strategies
Coordinate with contracted PR firm on media relations; share and/or coordinate spokesperson responsibilities with ED and Deputy Director
Attend off-site meetings and make deliveries/pick-ups as needed
Represent Museum at selected networking events and similar opportunities
Membership Program Oversight
Work with Guest Services team to develop and improve membership processing
In conjunction with the Guest Services Manager, ensure renewal letters are generated and mailed regularly, and that renewal processing is up to date and accurate
Oversee timely production and mailing of member newsletters and invitations
Develop lapsed member and new member acquisition campaigns in conjunction with ED and Deputy Director
Incorporate updated messaging regarding membership benefits, upgrade opportunities, and giving opportunities
Issue volunteer memberships to qualifying volunteers
Miscellaneous Activities
Assist as requested with on-site media production, including videos
Assist with staffing and team leadership for selected special events
Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
B.A. degree or equivalent
At least 2 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications and/or public relations
Current driver's license and a dependable personal vehicle
Excellent writing and copy editing skills
Strong computer skills; fluent in Microsoft Office, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok posting and analytics, and Google Adwords/Analytics plus YouTube analytics (Adobe Creative Suite or Canva knowledge is a plus)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Diplomatic and thoughtful when responding to inquiries from media, guests, board members and supporters
Supervisorial and contracts experience desired, or willingness to learn
Basic media knowledge; comfortable with public speaking, or willing to learn
Physical Demands
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds for various marketing, exhibit and event needs
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time indoors and outdoors (up to 6 hours)
Other physical requirements of the position may include but are not limited to moving, traversing and reaching, or positioning self to bend, stoop, crouch or remain in a stationary position on the floor
Work Environment
This position is located in-person on the Museum campus. Although some at-home work is possible, daily interaction with team members and guests is essential to managing the Museum's marketing and membership programs effectively. Although a private office space is provided, some duties are carried out in busy indoor and outdoor environments where variable temperatures, crowds and moderate to very noisy sound levels are common. This position interacts with adults and children, and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers, as well as common cleaning supplies. Standard workweek is Monday-Friday (negotiable), with weekend and evening hours required during busy times and certain "all hands" special events. Occasional driving is required for this position.
