Overview The University of Utah seeks a Communications Manager for the Impact & Prosperity Epicenter, a first‑of‑its‑kind residential community that combines business, economics, and policy to turn ambitious ideas into tangible realities. The Communications Manager will lead marketing and communications for the residential community and design, coordinate, and execute a wide range of marketing/communications campaigns, including physical marketing material, website content development, social media, newsletters, and other awareness‑raising initiatives. The role requires strong writing, design, and project management skills and adaptability to an evolving organizational structure.
Responsibilities Develops and executes a comprehensive marketing plan that reaches students, campus partners, and off‑campus stakeholders.
Creates marketing/communication materials from concept to execution across channels including social media, printed flyers, website content, and newsletters.
Develops and communicates department information on various projects to internal and external stakeholders.
Monitors the effectiveness of marketing/communication tactics and adjusts plans as needed.
Collaborates with Epicenter owners to develop, track, achieve, and report on short‑ and long‑term goals.
Reviews and provides feedback on marketing materials and events.
Supports the Sales team with outreach materials for housing applications and recruitment opportunities (e.g., tabling).
Recruits, trains, supervises, and mentors student marketing interns and ambassadors, guiding content creation, event promotion, and community engagement.
Coordinates with Epicenter Centers as needed to market their needs.
Identifies and develops compelling stories highlighting residents, student experiences, speakers, programs, and outcomes through written, visual, and multimedia content.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of related work experience).
One of the following job levels may be hired based on business needs: Senior Supervisor, Marketing Communications Management; Manager, Marketing Communications Management, with corresponding education and experience requirements as specified.
Preferences Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to five years of professional experience in marketing, communications, public relations, brand management, or related fields.
Experience developing and executing multi‑channel marketing and communications campaigns.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to various audiences.
Experience creating content for websites, social media, email newsletters, and print materials.
Proficiency with CMS, email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
Attention to detail in editing and proofreading communications materials.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
