Responsibilities

Run audition calls ensuring slots are met on time and that auditionees are moved through the process with information and direction.

Construct and maintain the Stage Manager’s Production Manual.

Attend rehearsals, taking blocking (or ensuring that a student assigned to the task completes it), taking props and designer notes, and making schedule adjustments as needed.

Call times and breaks as needed.

Communicate rehearsal notes to the production team through rehearsal reports.

Run rehearsals in the absence of the Director, according to the guidelines and artistic vision set forth by the Director.

Attend all tech rehearsals—setting the stage for rehearsal, ensuring the backstage area is conducive to rehearsal safety, and ensuring all working props are available and placed properly.

Call all tech rehearsals: starts, breaks, holds, and ends.

Manage backstage and dressing rooms for all tech rehearsals and performances: call times and places, call front‑of‑house opening, and call start of show.

Call all performances: Curtain Up, Light cues, sound cues, visual cues, set changes, Curtain Down.

Document performances with performance reports to be kept in the Production Manual.

Direct all backstage needs during tech rehearsals and performances via headset, designated personnel, and staff support.

Direct strike activities.

Strike booth and backstage of all show materials and gear post‑run.
