Role Description

The Director of Program Operations’s primary responsibility is to design and lead the execution of Teaching Lab’s program operations systems, ensuring that program strategy is translated into efficient, high-quality, and scalable delivery. Along with Program Leaders and the Shared Operations Team, the Director, Program Operations will also hold responsibilities in the following areas:

Establishing and evolving the organization’s program operating model

Leading staffing strategy, capacity planning, and resource allocation across partnerships

Driving cross-functional alignment and operational readiness for new and existing programmatic initiatives

Leading continuous improvement efforts through data analysis, risk identification, and system refinement

The Director of Program Operations role is a mid-level position with management responsibilities including supervision of both team members and project teams. This role is essential to ensuring strong program execution, operational efficiency, and sustainable impact across Teaching Lab’s partnerships. Success in this position requires strong strategic thinking, systems design, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Five (5) or more years of successful experience in workforce planning and deployment in a consulting organization

Five (5) or more years of successful experience in project management, planning, and tracking

Five (5) or more years of combined experience directing projects and leading teams

Five (5) or more years of combined experience working with partners outside of their organization to manage workflow or deliver services

Track record of effective people management aligned to equity values

Experience setting goals, creating the systems and processes for meeting the goals for increasing organizational effectiveness and risk management

Highly skilled in data analysis and performance/operation metrics

Experience with and understanding of full project or product lifecycle

Proficiency with project management tools, methodologies, and related technology

Outstanding communication and people skills

Requirements

Ability to design and deliver high-quality, evidence-based professional learning that advances teaching and learning outcomes

Compelling communication and facilitation skills that build engagement and influence across diverse educators and stakeholders

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex projects, multiple priorities, and tight timelines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in business administration or related field

PMP (Project Management Certification), PgMP (Program Management Professional), or similar

Experience with K-12 education context
