Taxvalet · New York, NY, USA ·

Job type:
Full Time

About TaxValet
We’re not just a tax company. We’re an emotions company. We believe that the work we do is a reflection of our higher purpose in life. And if the work isn’t fulfilling and enjoyable, what’s the point? At our company, our Core Purpose is to “transform negative emotions into something positive for our clients, partners, and each other”. It just so happens that we do that by eliminating the hassle and stress of sales tax. We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic and want to work towards our Core Purpose, too.

As a fractional sales tax department, TaxValet handles everything for clients, from nexus analysis to permit registrations, filings, audit support, and more. Unlike traditional sales tax software that overpromises and underdelivers, we provide a comprehensive, custom‑tailored solution that grows with our clients’ businesses. Unlike traditional professional service firms, we offer an all‑inclusive solution for a simple, predictable monthly rate with no billable hours.

We're a fast‑growing, fully remote, financially stable, and profitable business with an awesome team of around 100 teammates. We're building a world‑class fractional sales tax department, and new team members will be part of the reason why.

As a certified B‑Corporation, TaxValet is committed to using business as a force for good. This means we consider the impact of our decisions on our team, clients, community, and environment. We’re also a “give 1%” organization, dedicating 1% of profit, employee time, and service time to nonprofits.

We are a core‑value‑driven business. That means we hire, promote, and reward based on alignment with our core values:

Feel It: We value connecting with the real emotions and experiences of others and respectfully sharing our own.

Shape It: We proactively contribute our ideas and talents by speaking up, challenging the status quo, and taking calculated risks.

Own It: We take full responsibility for our actions, decisions, and outcomes, and use successes and failures as growth opportunities.

Crush It: We relentlessly pursue exponential impact in our business and life.

Question It: Be curious, ask questions, seek clarity, and create a culture of fearless inquiry.

About The Role
As the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will own the strategy and execution of all efforts driving our new client revenue, supporting communications to our existing clients and partners, shaping TaxValet’s brand, and creating growth in the competitive sales tax industry. As a member of TaxValet’s leadership team, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of a rapidly growing company and build a world‑class team in an environment that values innovation, data‑driven decision making, and transformative client experiences.

We are looking for someone who is strategic yet hands‑on, with experience building and scaling sales and marketing efforts. They must be able to do more with less and expand our impact despite a bootstrapped budget.

Your Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who is ready to learn and grow professionally, and wants a career (not just a job). We can train you on many things, but here are our non‑negotiables:

Professional

5+ years of sales and marketing experience in an in‑house or agency role, leading or managing a team.

Expertise in managing pipeline development and helping teams hit their sales targets.

Experience managing budgets and allocating resources effectively.

Interpersonal

Excitement and inspiration to embody TaxValet’s core values.

Enthusiasm for new challenges and problem‑solving.

Proactive attitude, not waiting for instructions.

Comfortable with uncertainty and willingness to collaborate with experts.

Valuing relationships as equally important as work output.

Preference for rapid learning and action over prolonged theorizing.

Your Primary Responsibilities

Vision & Direction: Drive the long‑term roadmap for the Sales & Marketing Team and provide thoughtful expertise to the senior leadership team, ensuring alignment with company strategy and focusing on process improvement, technology adoption, resource allocation, and team capability building.

Team Development and Leadership: Develop the Sales & Marketing Team members, providing learning opportunities and clear communication of processes and expectations, and holding them accountable.

Messaging & Positioning: Own overall messaging and positioning, understand the target customer, create resonant messages, develop campaigns, and train the team for consistent delivery.

Market & Competitive Analysis: Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to provide insights and recommendations that inform and adjust business strategies.

Cross‑Department Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with other departments, ensuring effective communication loops that align on goals, projects, and outcomes.

What Success Looks Like
No surprises here! After a year on the job, you’ll be measured by these specific outcomes.

Target revenue / new client spots attainment.

Target lead generation.

Optimized marketing spend to deliver at least 3.0+ CAC.

Compensation and Benefits
We believe working side‑by‑side with an awesome team is the greatest benefit, but there are other reasons why we love working at TaxValet.

Salary:

Base: $137,500

Bonus structure based on achieving new client revenue generation.

100% Remote work with flexible working hours.

The ability to participate in the company profit‑sharing program the year after your hire date (pending passing a financial literacy quiz).

Additional Benefits

We encourage ongoing training, coaching, and continuous education reimbursement.

We support growth opportunities and promote from within, encouraging cross‑department moves.

Our team has a diverse composition where everyone’s voice matters; we have regular processes for sharing feedback, thoughts, and ideas.

Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We're actively taking steps to make sure our culture is inclusive and that our processes and practices promote equity for all, including people of color, people from working‑class backgrounds, women, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. We welcome and encourage applications from people with these identities or members of other historically marginalized groups.

Research shows that women and people of color tend not to apply to jobs unless they believe they are 100% qualified and apply to fewer senior‑level positions. With that in mind, we encourage you to apply if you're not sure you meet our qualifications. We'd love to have the opportunity to consider you.
