Position Description
This position is responsible for the growth of the alumni relations program at Alpena Community College. The program will focus on building and sustaining relationships between ACC and alumni to support student success and grow charitable giving among alumni in support of ACC programs, facilities, and scholarships. Alumni relations includes regular communication through personal, print, and electronic methods, focusing on alumni engagement and events. This position will utilize alumni management software to track all alumni data.
Responsibilities
Work with the ACC Foundation Executive Director to manage program-specific budgets and create strategies for sustainability and growth of the alumni program.
Utilize donor/alumni database to track all alumni, transfer students, former staff, and friends of the College.
Assist the Executive Director in coordinating development activities for the College, including fundraising efforts with student groups, faculty, and staff.
Oversee and promote events, communication, and programming for the alumni audience via direct mail, phone, email, social media, and promotional materials.
Maintain the ACC website to advance the Foundation and Alumni Relations, along with social media engagement.
Collaborate with Foundation staff to create, edit, and distribute alumni newsletters in print and electronic formats.
Develop and implement alumni donor cultivation and recognition/stewardship plans, including the annual Distinguished Graduate and Florence Nightingale awards.
Develop and integrate an appreciation for and presence of alumni in the life of the College community.
Engage current students through programming to encourage them to become active and supportive alumni.
Plan and produce events to cultivate and steward alumni in collaboration with Foundation staff.
Ensure historical data and student life materials are maintained and preserved.
Presence on the job is an employee’s fundamental obligation; regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field required.
Minimum of two years in a related position, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.
Experience in alumni relations or other advancement areas (annual fund, marketing, or communications) preferred.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact in a kind and courteous manner.
Experience coordinating and organizing activities and events and managing volunteers.
Ability to self-direct and manage work processes effectively and efficiently.
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to write clear and compelling correspondence, social media and marketing content, and newsletter articles.
Positive attitude with ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness when dealing with staff, students, faculty, alumni, and other professional contacts; knowledge of the regional community.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks concurrently and performing effectively under deadlines.
Experience using fundraising software platforms preferred.
Knowledge of community colleges preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint).
Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
