Ballet Program Director

Since 1987, Dance Precisions has been Orange County's premier destination for dance education. Now in our 38th season, we serve dancers ages 2–18 across a full spectrum of training — from our Little Dancin' Shoes program for our youngest movers, to recreational Academy classes, Performance Teams, and championship-winning Competition Teams.
Our 20,000 sq ft facility in Anaheim Hills features six spacious studios with professional‑grade sprung floors, and we offer classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, K‑Pop, and Tumbling. Our alumni have gone on to perform on Broadway, in film and television, and on tour with artists like Beyoncé, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift.
We believe time spent in the studio shapes more than dancers: it develops confident, creative, and capable young people. Our research‑backed curriculum integrates technique, artistry, injury‑prevention conditioning, and leadership development.
Our Culture

The Role

Ballet is the foundation underneath every style we teach, and we're investing seriously in making it the strongest program in North Orange County. The Ballet Program Director leads our classical and contemporary ballet curriculum across the studio and serves as the lead instructor for Torn Silk Ballet, our supplemental ballet training program, with a long‑term mandate to build toward YAGP‑level competition.
A typical week includes teaching ballet classes across age groups and levels, leading Torn Silk's supplemental training, developing curriculum and progression standards, and partnering with the Studio Director on programming and growth. This is a chance to build something serious from the ground up, with full backing to develop dancers who can compete and perform at the highest levels.
This role reports to the Studio Director.
Key Responsibilities

Lead classical and contemporary ballet curriculum

— Own the technical progression for ballet across the studio, from foundational classes through advanced pre‑professional training. Set clear standards for technique, artistry, and the bridge between classical vocabulary and contemporary work. Classes include pre‑pointe, pointe. Must be able to provide guidance on first pointe shoe selection and be willing to accompany dancers to their pointe shoe fitting.
Direct Torn Silk Ballet supplemental training

— Serve as the lead instructor and program voice for Torn Silk Ballet, our supplemental ballet program designed for serious dancers who want training beyond what their primary studio offers. Shape the schedule, curriculum, and student experience.
Build toward YAGP

— Develop a competitive pipeline aimed at Youth America Grand Prix and similar high‑level platforms.
Deliver detailed, technique‑focused feedback

— Give every dancer specific, actionable corrections rooted in classical technique. Generic praise is not enough. Our families expect their dancers to be seen, corrected, and grown.
Show up on time, every time

— Arrive a minimum of 10 minutes prior to class start, prepared and ready to teach. When a conflict is unavoidable, you are responsible for securing a qualified substitute teacher in advance and getting them vetted and approved by studio leadership before the class.
Communicate proactively with students, parents, and staff

— Keep families informed about progress, expectations, costumes, rehearsals, audition cycles, and competition logistics. Respond to parent and front‑desk inquiries promptly and professionally. Clear, consistent communication is non‑negotiable.
Participate fully in the rehearsal and recital process

— Attend rehearsals, dress runs, recital weekend, Torn Silk performances, and YAGP competitions. Coordinate with the choreography team, music selections, costume decisions, and stage logistics so every dancer is prepared and supported on performance day.
Qualifications

Required

Senior ballet teaching experience

— Years of teaching ballet at a serious training studio, school, or pre‑professional program. Track record of developing dancers who advance to high‑level competition, summer intensives, college dance programs, or professional companies.
Classical technique with contemporary range

— Deep classical training (Vaganova, Cecchetti, Balanchine, RAD, or equivalent) and the ability to teach contemporary ballet alongside it. Strong understanding of YAGP variations and competition repertoire. Choreographic experience and comfort staging full‑length works.
Availability and program ownership

— Available weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturdays, with full availability through audition cycles, competition season, recital, and Nutcracker production weeks. Comfortable owning a program end to end and leading both students and faculty toward a high standard.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must pass a background check (required for all staff working with minors).
Preferred (Nice to Have)

Professional ballet performance experience or training at a recognized academy.
Prior experience coaching YAGP variations.
Compensation:

Hourly, commensurate with experience.
