Audio Media Strategist

We are searching for an experienced and passionate Media Strategist to join our national and network radio sales team. The Media Planner is a critical role that will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive radio and digital audio media strategies by analyzing target audiences, negotiating media buys, optimizing campaign performance, and providing strategic insights to achieve client marketing objectives, while also staying abreast of emerging digital and audio media trends.
Essential Responsibilities:
Work closely with the national and network sales teams as well as the inventory and revenue management team to develop, build, evaluate, and manage media plans during the request for proposal (RFP)/avail process through comprehensive data analysis
Manage media buying process, including negotiating rates and placements with digital and audio media partners
Create integrated media plans incorporating various digital and audio platforms, as well as custom-built radio networks from the company's O&O properties
Determining the most suitable station, market, and/or network media mix given the nature of each particular opportunity and the client's business, historical data, budget, and preferred advertising media, while taking into account current company inventory situations and priorities
Help with campaign trafficking and ad creative delivery, where applicable
Monitor campaign performance using analytics tools and make real-time adjustments as needed to optimize schedules across platforms, stations, and vehicles to ensure that media plans align with client or company objectives
Adhere to and drive sales team compliance around all corporate-driven pricing/inventory management initiatives
Generate comprehensive campaign reports, including key metrics like impressions, reach, engagement, conversions, and ROI
Develop data-driven recommendations to improve campaign performance and achieve client objectives
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Vast understanding of radio and digital audio media landscape: Expertise and knowledge in radio, digital advertising platforms, audio streaming services, and ad tech solutions
Data analysis and reporting proficiency: Strong analytical skills to interpret data, generate insights, and measure campaign effectiveness using media reporting platforms and other tools
Media planning and buying experience: Proven track record of developing and executing successful radio and digital audio media campaigns.
Strong communication and presentation skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex media strategies and collaborate in a team-oriented environment while fostering strong relationships with interdepartmental team members, as well as effectively communicating with external clients.
Project management skills: Capability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously, meet deadlines, including last-minute requests, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong ability to effectively problem solve and apply thorough analytical skills to creatively work through challenges
Ability to listen and be flexible while also holding team members accountable for decisions and deliverables
Ability to use a variety of advertising analytics tools, databases, and spreadsheet programs to track and manage advertising campaigns
Highly developed software skills (Excel) and the ability to quickly learn new pricing systems and processes
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel)
Strong quantitative skills with the know-how and ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
Exemplary attention to detail and organizational skills
Education and/or Experience:
A bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in Marketing, Advertising, Data Analysis, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field is preferred. Experience with Tapscan, Act 1, and Counterpoint required. Certification in digital marketing, media planning, or analytics preferred. Experience in programmatic buying, audio and digital media strategies, and emerging trends in media would be advantageous. A minimum of 6 years of previous Media Planning/Strategist or related experience required. Media background in radio, digital, marketing, and/or advertising is required.
