2D Effects Animator

To explore magical effects for an upcoming feature film, the temporary freelance 2D Effects Animator will design and develop hand-drawn and digitally composited effects, collaborating closely with the Visual Development team in a remote capacity.
Key responsibilities

Design 2D effects that enhance character performance and the cinematic quality of scenes
Collaborate with the Production Designer and Visual Development artists to iterate on magical effects
Establish the visual language for various styles of magic throughout the film

Required qualifications

1+ year of experience in 2D animation or visual development, focusing on effects
Traditional 2D animation background
Proficiency in animation/effects software such as Photoshop, Nuke, After Effects, or similar
Strong understanding of timing, weight, and physics in effects animation
Creative mindset with the ability to conceptualize and iterate on ideas quickly
