Overview

The Sr. Relationship Manager serves the needs of the community commercial banking business by customizing a broad range of products and services to meet the financial needs of TD's customers. They acquire, develop and manage commercial banking relationships by providing customized solutions across different commercial segments to build a strategy that is right for the customer now and in the future, with a focus on growing the portfolio by providing financial solutions and developing new business from both existing and new customers.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor who structures and packages practical and competitive solutions that add value to the customer's portfolio.
Develop new business with prospects that have the largest and most complex credit needs in the assigned portfolio segment.
Define new approaches to sell and deliver solutions and anticipate emerging customer trends.
Oversee the management and activities of large accounts and related servicing teams.
Lead problem resolution for project/program complex requirements at all levels.
Develop and implement innovative approaches to the sales process, including negotiation of terms and account management.
Communicate complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, persuade customers and negotiate significant terms.
Provide leadership guidance, recommendations and collaborate with business to ensure solutions meet business needs on complex projects or programs.
Depth & Scope

Recognized as top level expert within the company in a customer segment or product/service line.
Identify and interpret market trends to structure portfolios and get results.
Provide expert advice internally and externally.
Impact sales achievement for largest accounts and relationships and contribute to significant business lines.
Education & Experience

Undergraduate degree.
10+ years of relevant experience.
In-depth understanding of commercial industry, business development techniques and credit decisions.
Proven track record of business development and conceptualizing effective new business strategies.
Extensive network of outside referral sources for new business.
Excellent credit and financial analysis skills and effective negotiation skills.
Customer Accountabilities

Responsible for growth goals (loans, deposits, fees) through new business and cross‑selling.
Make sales calls, coordinate calling efforts, gather financial information and coordinate analyses for credit decisions.
Contribute recommendations to loan decision process based on risk evaluation.
Negotiate specific terms and communicate credit decisions as directed.
Lead all aspects of relationship management for assigned portfolio/segment and/or geography.
Deliver exceptional customer service and improve customer experience.
Act as trusted advisor and provide creative products and solutions.
Generate referrals to all business partners in the bank.
Develop retention plans for assigned portfolio deposits and loans.
Maintain expert knowledge of market, customers and economic factors.
Identify and respond to business environment changes and establish action plans.
Identify referral opportunities for internal partners.
Develop community relationships and membership in civic and professional organizations.
Shareholder Accountabilities

Develop and implement sales strategies to attract, acquire and retain customers or sales opportunities and referrals.
Plan and execute business development activities, review results and adjust tactics.
Promote full suite of products, sales, services and banking capabilities.
Assess credit requests and make recommendations for credit deals.
Contribute to credit applications with high quality risk assessment.
Support operational excellence and timely completion of processes.
Identify and manage risks and escalating non‑standard, high risk transactions.
Ensure accurate documentation of client/business intentions.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and cross‑functional initiatives.
Maintain compliance with regulations and risk appetite.
