Graphic Designer I

San Bernardino County is recruiting for Graphic Designer I to create and produce a high volume of diverse, visually engaging print materials, using raw data compiled from various sources including original drawings and creative illustration.

Conditions of Employment

Pre-Employment: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a medical exam.

Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required; employees must make provisions for such transportation.

Education
An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art or Commercial Art with emphasis in Graphic Design, OR 60 semester (90 quarter) units of completed coursework which must include 27 semester or 40 quarter units in Art/Commercial Art or Graphic Design. A list of completed college coursework or legible transcripts must be submitted with the application.

Qualifying degrees must be completed at an accredited college or university. Degrees completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency.

Experience
Two (2) years of paid full-time equivalent professional experience in Graphic Design using the following computer programs:

Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Web programs (WordPress)

This experience must be clearly detailed in the Work Experience section of the Application.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, knowledge of PC and Mac platforms, and experience in web design, video production, and multimedia. An established portfolio is highly desirable. Additionally, demonstrated knowledge in layout and pagination processes and ADA Title II requirements for digital collateral.

There will be a competitive evaluation of qualifications based on a review of the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire; therefore it is advantageous to provide as much relevant and detailed work experience as possible, as resumes will not be reviewed in lieu of the application materials.
