Location: This person could work from NYC (3 days in office, 2 days remote per week), Los Angeles, Washington D.C. or San Francisco

For over a decade, they have worked with leading startups, established companies, and organizations willing to think creatively and challenge the status quo. Their teams drive strategic communication, product launch, and public policy campaigns on behalf of their clients. Tusk Strategies is a part of Tusk Holdings, which also includes Tusk Ventures, an advisory-for-equity for early-stage startups operating in regulated industries; Tusk Philanthropies, working to end childhood hunger; and the Mobile Voting Project, bringing mobile voting to the U.S., and increasing Americans' participation in this most essential right.
Their nationally-recognized Advanced Tech Practice runs communications and public affairs strategies for some of the buzziest and fastest growing start-ups in and out of Silicon Valley and is expanding rapidly.
The Role.
As a Senior Vice President/Managing Director of Communications & Public Affairs reporting directly to the Partner leading Tusk’s Advanced Tech Practice, you will focus on earned, social, and paid media strategies that supercharge client policy and business aims. Other responsibilities will include:
Devising innovative ways for clients and their executive to build their reputation in the tech media and policy ecosystem through media appearances, conferences, podcasts, newsletters, and TV opportunities
Creating and executing communications strategies around major market expansions, fundraising announcements, policy announcements, product launches, and other milestones.
Proactively identifying storylines to create ad hoc media opportunities.
Drafting and editing content including op-eds, testimony, speeches, and press releases.
Assisting with new business proposals by putting together creative ideas and tactics.
What we look for from you.
A minimum of 6+ years of experience with media relations pitching for financial services, blockchain technology, AI, cryptocurrency, fintech, healthtech, cybersecurity, SaaS, and other emerging technologies.
Great tech and finance media contacts, with the hits to show those relationships.
Experience driving effective social media campaigns leveraging influencers and natural allies.
Experience liaising with senior client leaders (including the C-suite) and position C-level tech executives as thought leaders in their spaces.
PR agency experience a big plus.
Ability to provide examples of campaigns or projects that show how your creative communications efforts drove a successful media, business, or political outcome.
Reporter contacts at relevant beats.
Excellent writing skills.
Ability to work on multiple projects at once and under tight deadlines.
Willing to relocate to NYC, San Francisco, Los Angeles or Washington, D.C.
