Program Manager, Cancer Center

Overview

The Program Manager supports the Cancer Network and Cancer Care Services by planning, monitoring, and managing programs and projects from inception through completion. Responsibilities include leading design, planning, tracking, reporting, and maintaining program efforts that support the department's strategic goals. Utilizes data analytics, Lean Six Sigma project management tools, financial analytics tools, and software for operational and financial assessment and management.

Responsibilities

Guide programmatic development for large strategic and cross-functional improvement programs for Cancer Network and Cancer Care Services.
Partner with cancer care service medical directors to form strategic plans and develop programs in the cancer network.
Manage, assess, and document project scope and program using standard templates; define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support Cancer Network strategic business goals in collaboration with the Director and other stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for process improvement; design creative solutions for technological and non-technological problems and identify future projects.
Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools and other project management methods.
Design and structure programs for Cancer Network initiatives; develop strategic input for the Director regarding business objectives of clients for current and future projects.
Foster collaboration across cross-functional teams (School of Medicine, Stanford Health Care, University Healthcare Alliance, Valley Care) to drive initiatives forward.
Partner with Operations Manager(s) to assess leadership needs and internal capacity; facilitate strategic changes in project scope or assignment across the team.
Design effective hand-offs and coordination between clinical services and cancer care services (psycho-oncology, palliative care, genetic counseling, genomics, nutrition, social work, integrative medicine).
Coach and mentor staff through change processes and cycles of continuous improvement.
Engage with departments and physician groups; build relationships with key stakeholders and understand their workflows.
Prepare and maintain accurate, timely, auditable project records and cost estimates within department guidelines.
Create software programs or dashboards to monitor operational and financial metrics for cancer care service programs and multiple cancer centers/clinics in the Bay Area.
Education and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Policy Administration, or another directly-related field from an accredited college required.
Experience:

Five (5) years of progressively responsible and related work experience in health care performance improvement, program development, data analytics, healthcare financial analysis and management, and project management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to act as a thought leader and operational expert in process and service transformation and integration.
Effective communication at all organizational levels; capable of instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting, and advising with strong written and verbal skills.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with diverse groups and gain cooperation.
Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; work well in a team or independently.
Strong planning, organizing, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines while aligning SHC goals with department objectives and service standards.
Ability to provide leadership, mentorship, and influence others.
Knowledge of Lean, JIT, Six Sigma, and Flow Manufacturing techniques.
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, Project, and Outlook.

Compensation

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $66.52 - $88.14 per hour. Final compensation will be set based on factors including internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
