Job Description Accountable for the development and execution of the Furniture & Specialty Segment business strategy in North America. The goal is to profitably grow Sherwin‑Williams share of the market for the Industrial Wood Coatings Division by effectively aligning resources with opportunities. Key metrics include sales growth in excess of market rates, margin growth, and new product sales growth. This role works cooperatively with the Global Industry Director for Furniture & Specialty and provides strategic leadership for Sales, R&D, and Product Management teams in North America, serving as a key member of the Regional Marketing leadership organization.
Responsibilities Develop growth strategies for the Furniture & Specialty Segment and sub‑segments in North America.
Convert the strategy into multi‑year growth plans that expand both position and profitability.
Align regional sales, R&D, and Product Management resources to execute the growth plan.
Establish leading operational and lagging financial metrics for the segment and manage these, including sales growth and margin growth.
Grow market share in key geographies.
Stay within budget and timelines to achieve the above results.
Strategic Plan Build and refine the segment strategy at the sub‑segment level each year, including a strong fact base and quantified assessment of sub‑segment attractiveness in each geography.
Assess disruptors and accelerators, define the business model and channel strategy, and provide an industry value‑chain overview to drive differentiation.
Strengthen Customer Loyalty Align internal stakeholders around segment growth plans.
Maintain contact with key customers for market insight and deeper understanding.
Actively participate in industry associations to represent Sherwin‑Williams as a global coatings leader.
Support sales in positioning appropriate product offerings for target customer segments.
Partner with the Enterprise Selling team on selected strategic accounts to deliver an enterprise‑wide value proposition.
Product Development & Commercialization Develop a robust new product development roadmap, including an active ideas pipeline, to ensure market share and profit expansion, and collaborate with Product Management on execution.
Responsible for Stage Gate Phase 1 Opportunity Identification, including a full business case with clear product positioning, value propositions, and a detailed financial pro forma.
Responsible for Stage Gate Phase 5.
Travel Requires up to 20% travel; position is not remote or hybrid.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without requiring sponsorship.
Must have a bachelor’s degree.
Must be able to travel as required.
Must have a U.S. passport; travel to Canada may be required.
Minimum five (5) years of experience in business development, brand marketing, channel marketing, product management, or sales with a record of driving sales and profitability growth.
Experience launching new products via the Stage Gate process.
At least one (1) year of product management experience.
At least one (1) year of experience with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications Master’s of Business Administration.
Prior experience in product management or strategic marketing role.
Technical background focused on industrial markets.
Understanding of distribution business model.
