Campaign Director

The Alaska Wilderness League is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and results-oriented Campaign Director to lead and strengthen its grassroots and advocacy programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Campaigns, this position manages the Arctic Campaign Manager, Partnership & National Elevation Manager, and National Field Organizer.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of strategic advocacy and grassroots campaigns.

Supervise, mentor, and support a team of organizers.

Develop campaign plans with clear goals, metrics, timelines, and evaluation processes.

Coordinate with communications, federal advocacy, development, and leadership teams.

Build relationships with coalition partners, Indigenous leaders, community organizations, and environmental advocates.

Expand supporter engagement and grassroots participation.

Monitor political and legislative developments affecting Alaska's public lands and waters and adjust campaign strategies accordingly.

Ensure campaigns reflect organizational values, including collaboration, inclusion, respect, and environmental justice.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience leading federal advocacy, public affairs, or issue-based campaigns.

Experience managing and developing staff.

Demonstrated success designing and executing campaigns at the intersection of policy, advocacy, and politics.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational, project management, and strategic planning skills.

Experience collaborating across departments and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders and coalition partners.

Commitment to conservation, climate justice, public lands advocacy, and Indigenous rights.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience developing integrated communications strategies for advocacy or public affairs campaigns.

Experience working with Native American and/or Alaska Native communities.

Experience working with Congress, federal agencies, or the executive branch.

Knowledge of federal public lands policy, environmental advocacy, climate policy, or natural resource conservation.

Location
Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Travel
Approximately 10% domestic travel

Salary
$90,000–$100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
