VP, Underwriting

A specialty insurer is hiring a VP of Underwriting to own underwriting strategy, appetite, and portfolio performance across its book. This is a senior leadership seat with real ownership of profitability and portfolio construction.
Role responsibilities

Set underwriting strategy, appetite, and guidelines across the portfolio
Own loss-ratio performance and overall portfolio profitability
Manage relationships with carrier and capacity partners
Build and lead the underwriting team as the book grows
Requirements

10+ years in specialty or commercial underwriting, including leadership experience
Track record owning loss ratios and underwriting P&L
Strong pricing and portfolio-management judgment
Established carrier and market relationships
