Tri-City Mental HealthAuthority is a public agency serving the diverse communities of Pomona, Claremont, and La Verne.
Established in 1960, Tri-City Mental HealthAuthority (TCMHA) was conceptualized as a comprehensive mental health service provider, dedicated to helping families and individuals of all ages reach their full potential. Through close and dedicated collaboration with the community it serves, TCMHA has successfully created an integrated system of care that ensures access and enhances mental and emotional health. Available services include but are not limited to psychotherapy, clinical case management, medication support, peer‑to‑peer support, psychoeducation, linkages and referral, vocational training and support, socialization activities, and community outreach.
Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Communication and Digital Media Supervisor leads TCMHA’s strategic communication, public information, digital media, and community engagement efforts. The role supervises communication staff and creative professionals while ensuring agency messaging is accurate, accessible, culturally responsive, and aligned with TCMHA’s recovery‑oriented, community‑driven mission.
Key Duties
Lead agency communication, public information, digital media, and community outreach strategies.
Develop clear, accessible messaging that promotes TCMHA programs, services, wellness initiatives, and crisis supports.
Create and oversee press releases, media statements, fact sheets, presentations, newsletters, web content, social media, and multimedia campaigns.
Manage digital platforms and use analytics to improve outreach, engagement, and awareness of available services.
Coordinate messaging with agency leadership, program teams, city partners, community stakeholders, and the Governing Board.
Supervise communication staff, interns, and creative contractors while managing workflows, content calendars, and quality control.
Support community events, BHSA engagement activities, and outreach to underserved, multilingual, and high‑need communities.
Ensure communications meet HIPAA, confidentiality, ADA accessibility, and agency standards, and support crisis communication as needed.
Oversee TCMHA’s website, social media channels, newsletters, and multimedia content.
Ensure digital content reflects trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented, and culturally inclusive communication practices.
Track analytics and use data to refine outreach strategies and improve engagement.
Experience in strategic communication, public information, digital media, or community outreach.
Strong writer, editor, and storyteller who can make complex information clear and engaging.
Skilled in digital platforms, social media, content planning, and performance analytics.
Able to lead staff and projects while working collaboratively across teams and with community partners.
Committed to accessible, culturally responsive communication and advancing mental health awareness.
Education, Training, & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Health, Psychology, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in communications, public information, or digital‑media roles. Preferred candidates bring experience working with BHSA‑funded programs or California behavioral health systems, ideally within a joint powers authority, county, or municipal government setting, along with strong multilingual communication skills.
Additional qualifications include experience in graphic design, video production, or content strategy, and the ability to support Governing Board or other public meeting communication needs.
Benefits
Merit Salary Increases:
Annually based on performance, budget availability and supervisor approval.
CalPERS Pension:
2% @ 55 for Classic Members and 2% @ 62 for PEPRA Members; employee contributes 7% for Classic and 7.75% for PEPRA. No Social Security.
Vacation:
80 hours per year, increasing with years of service with a maximum of 240 hours; cash out option available.
Sick Leave:
Full‑Time employees = 88 hours per year with no cap.
Holidays:
11 paid holidays per calendar year plus an additional 16 hours of Floating Holidays.
Longevity Pay:
$2,500 at 5 years of service; $5,000 at 10‑35 milestone years of service.
Flexible Work Schedule:
9/80, 4/10 and/or intermittent teleworking, where applicable and approved by supervisor.
Health Insurance:
Medical (Kaiser HMO), dental (MetLife PPO) and vision coverage (EyeMed) of which 80% is paid by Tri‑City Mental HealthAuthority (TCMHA).
Life Insurance:
Paid at one times annual salary, paid by Tri‑City MHA with additional optional coverage available.
