Job Summary

Eastern Carolina's #1 news station, WITN News, is seeking a dynamic multimedia journalist ready to lead our New Bern bureau as our next chief. We are looking for a candidate who lives for current events – someone who delivers hard‑news lead stories and who operates independently without relying on press releases. The ideal candidate has a passion for videography, strong communication skills, and a knack for social media. This position requires public‑records requests, document and agenda reviews, and story discovery as well as pitching, reporting, shooting, and editing stories. Live shots are required daily. The successful candidate must be organized, driven, creative, and an active content creator.
Responsibilities

Developing sources and contacts for the bureau that covers Craven, Pamlico, and Carteret counties
Reporting live daily for multiple newscasts
Shooting, writing, editing, and posting stories
Working under strict deadline pressure
Coordination with news director for bureau upkeep
Qualifications

Good writing skills
Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
Self‑starter skills
Knowledge of and ability to operate state‑of‑the‑art television news equipment as well as content management systems and social media
Must provide a link to your resume reel
