Overview

Calaveras County Public Health is seeking a full-time, in-person Community Engagement Coordinator to support health education and promote community wellbeing. In this role, you will build strong relationships with local partners, lead outreach activities, and connect residents with essential public health programs. The position requires collaborating with community organizations, coordinating educational events, and developing accessible, culturally responsive materials that strengthen participation in initiatives such as cannabis use and suicide prevention. This position is ideal for an individual who excels at building community relationships, engaging diverse audiences, and representing Calaveras County Public Health as a dedicated community resource.
Responsibilities

Assist with and perform public health education, prevention, and outreach work under general direction.
Prepare public health education materials and build knowledge of the community served.
Cultivate and sustain relationships with community members, partners, and key stakeholders; identify and link community members to resources and services.
Support community-led projects and actions that promote health equity.
Assist with the development, preparation, and delivery of presentations and health education lessons to various community stakeholders.
Assist with coordination and organization of meetings, workshops, events, and activities that promote health awareness, health equity, and available programs and services.
Conduct virtual and in-person outreach to community members and partners; attend required meetings and conferences.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
For the Senior level, perform advanced work related to assigned duties and department activities, and coordinate and organize meetings, workshops, events, and activities that promote health awareness and health equity.
Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

Basic principles and practices of health education, health literacy, health equity; health communication concepts, strategies, and methods; community organizing, data collection and analysis; and understanding of community needs.
Skill and Ability to:

Prepare and implement health education lessons, communicate effectively in writing and orally, develop and maintain relationships with agency staff, community organizations, and the public; make public presentations; work with a team.
Education, Training, and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical path would include:
Community Engagement Coordinator I

— High school diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of community-oriented experience, preferably in public health or a similar setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Community Engagement Coordinator II

— High school diploma or equivalent; four (4) years of paid community-oriented experience, preferably in public health or a similar setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. An Associate’s degree is preferred.
Licensure or Certification:

Possession of an appropriate California driver’s license by the State Department of Motor Vehicles may be required; additional certifications may be required as deemed necessary.
