Video Editor & Writer / Producer

to join our production team. In this dual-purpose role, you will be the driving force behind the graphic and video elements for a daily live-streamed show, while also serving as a key editorial decision maker.

The ideal candidate thrives in a high-speed live broadcast environment, possesses a deep understanding of the political landscape, and has a natural instinct for what makes a strong video clip. You will not only cut the video, you will write the headlines, package the content for our audience, and ensure our live streams meet strict broadcast-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Technical & Production

Live Show Prep & Execution:

Prepare graphic and video elements for a daily live-streamed show, ensuring seamless integration into the broadcast.

Rapid Video Editing:

Quickly turn around short video clips on demand, reacting in real-time to live events and requests.

Quality Control:

Actively monitor live streams to ensure excellent technical performance and broadcast-level quality.

Asset Management:

Efficiently manage, organize, and transfer files using systems like Google Drive, Frame.io and Dropbox.

Editorial & Strategy

Content Curation:

Watch live broadcasts with a sharp editorial eye to identify, pull, and edit the strongest, most compelling clips for social media platforms.

Copywriting & Packaging:

Write engaging, high-performing video titles and social copy to accompany your selected clips.

Audience Engagement:

Put yourself in the audience's shoes to select and package content you know will perform well on our channels, based on the overarching editorial voice.

Collaboration:

Work closely with, and take direction from, Executive Producers to align on editorial strategy and daily production needs.

Qualifications

Experience:

5+ years of strong editing experience in news, politics, podcasting, live production or a similarly fast-paced environment.

Technical Expertise:

Extensive knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, OBS and common AI tools.

Editorial Judgment:

A proven track record of making (or informing) high-level editorial decisions and a deep understanding of the political news cycle.

Speed & Efficiency:

Ability to work at the intense pace of a live broadcast and production environment without sacrificing quality.

Communication:

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with heavy reliance on instant messaging platforms like Slack.

Portfolio:

Demonstrated proof that your editing and production work meets broadcast-level standards.

Social:

Hands-on experience managing YouTube channels and a deep, intuitive understanding of the broader online video landscape and algorithmic trends.

Work Environment & Requirements

Hybrid Schedule:

This role is hybrid, requiring some days in our Manhattan office and allowing for remote work on other days.

Flexibility:

While standard hours apply, this role requires occasional availability outside of normal working hours, including late nights, weekends, and special projects dictated by the news cycle.

You must have pre-existing authorization to live and work in the USA.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary:

$90,000
