Multimedia and Social Media Manager
The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences seeks a creative, collaborative and highly organized Multimedia and Social Media Manager to help tell the story of one of the University of Georgia's largest and most academically diverse colleges. This position leads the development and production of social-first multimedia content that elevates Franklin College's visibility, reputation and engagement with key audiences, including prospective and current students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and campus partners. The manager creates compelling video, photography, social media and digital content that translates the college's research, teaching, creative activity, student experience and public impact into clear, engaging stories.
Working as part of the Franklin College marketing and communications team, this role manages day-to-day social media planning and publishing while also producing multimedia content for web, social, email, advancement, events and other college channels. The position collaborates with academic departments, schools, college leadership, Development and Alumni Relations, and UGA Marketing & Communications to identify high-value storytelling opportunities and package them for digital audiences. The ideal candidate is a strong visual storyteller with sound editorial judgment, social media fluency, video and photography skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving academic environment.
Content Creation & Publishing: Plan, create, publish and evaluate social media content across Franklin College channels, including short-form video, photography, graphics, captions, stories, reels and other platform-specific content. Translate complex academic, research and creative work into accessible, engaging digital content for broad audiences.
Multimedia Production: Capture and edit video and photography featuring faculty research, student experiences, alumni outcomes, performances, exhibitions, fieldwork, events and other college priorities. Maintain a searchable library of photo, video and multimedia assets.
Storytelling & Strategic Content Development: Produce multimedia storytelling packages that support Franklin's reputation, recruitment, advancement, alumni engagement, faculty visibility and internal communications goals. Provide occasional event coverage, with emphasis on events that support strategic storytelling, reputation-building, recruitment, advancement or college-wide engagement.
Collaboration & Campus Partnerships: Collaborate with communications colleagues on editorial planning, calendars and campaigns. Partner with academic departments, schools and units to identify visual storytelling opportunities and promote strong examples of Franklin's breadth and impact.
Web & Digital Content Support: Develop, manage and execute Franklin College's social media strategy in alignment with college and university priorities. Support web and digital content needs by preparing multimedia assets, writing or editing short-form web copy, and helping keep selected digital content accurate, accessible and aligned with brand standards. Stay current on social media trends, platform changes, multimedia tools and higher education digital storytelling practices. Monitor social media performance, audience engagement and digital content metrics; provide regular insights and recommendations to improve content strategy.
Standards, Compliance & Quality Control: Ensure content meets UGA brand standards, accessibility requirements and digital best practices.
