Marketing Communications Coordinator - College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts

Essential functions (job duties)
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator plays a key role inshaping the visibility, voice, and audience engagement of theMaggie Allesee Department of Theatre and Dance. This position isresponsible for planning and executing marketing and communicationsefforts that support student recruitment, audience development, andcommunity connection. Working closely with faculty, staff,students, and college-level partners, the Marketing andCommunications Coordinator ensures that all departmental messagingis clear, consistent, timely, and reflective of the department’sartistic excellence college branding guidelines.
Marketing Strategy and Planning
Partner with the Director of Communication and EnrollmentManagement and Department Chair to develop, implement, and manageall departmental marketing initiatives, including execution ofdesignated components of the departmental Marketing Plan.
Serve as the primary marketing lead for all production-relatedcampaigns, including:
Season productions
The Companies (including Company One, To Sangana, and Motor CityCabaret)
Group sales marketing and outreach
Student Matinee campaigns
Creative and Content Development
Coordinate the development and distribution of print and digitalmarketing materials, including but not limited to:
Postcards and other print collateral
Playbills and production programs
Email communications and newsletters
Digital signage and paid advertising
Graphic design assets
Photography and video content
Social media platforms
Department website content and updates
Manage review processes, approvals, and sign-offs to ensureaccuracy, consistency, and alignment with college and universitybrand standards.
Event and Academic Program Support
Collaborate with faculty to support marketing and promotionalefforts for student-centered and academic events, including:
Recruitment support
Student Stage productions
Capstone projects
BFA Senior Showcase
Other annual or recurring departmental events
Partnerships and Collaboration
Coordinate partnership opportunities and share relevant informationwith appropriate internal partners, including:
Box Office
CFPCA communications team
Development and alumni engagement teams
Foster effective collaboration across units to support ticketsales, fundraising, new student recruitment and audience outreachgoals.
Supervision and Team Management
Mentor student assistants and students enrolled in theundergraduate theatre management course, providing guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback.
Oversee student marketing team members to ensure deadlines are metand materials are delivered on schedule.
Manage in-house student graphic designers and external vendors toensure the timely production of high-quality, effective marketingmaterials.
Analytics and Assessment
Monitor and analyze campaign performance using website analytics,social media metrics, and other marketing data.
Use insights and data trends to inform strategy, improve outreach,and strengthen engagement across audiences.
Perform other related duties as assigned in support ofdepartmental, college, and university objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, artsadministration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.
Demonstrated experience planning and executing integrated marketingcampaigns across print and digital platforms.
Experience supervising, mentoring, or training students orentry-level staff.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multipleprojects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
Experience working in higher education, performing arts, ornonprofit arts organizations. Familiarity with audience developmentstrategies, ticketed events, and production-based marketing.Experience collaborating with designers, photographers,videographers, and external vendors. Working knowledge of analyticstools related to websites, email marketing, and social mediaplatforms.
