Project Architect
READ Architecture Design, a boutique, design‑driven architecture and interior design studio based in New York City and Miami, is seeking a Project Architect to join our New York team.

Location: Brooklyn, NY, US

Salary: $100,000 – $120,000 annually

About READ
We’re a tight‑knit studio that values strong design judgment, craft, direct collaboration, and ownership. Our work spans residential renovations, landmarked and historic projects, adaptive reuse, ground‑up projects, rezoning/feasibility studies in NYC, with a growing number of commercial projects in both NYC and Miami.

About the Role
You’ll take ownership of projects from design development through construction administration, working closely with our principal on residential and mixed‑use work in NYC. This role is focused on project leadership and design production.

Level: Project Architect, 7+ years. Reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities

Lead projects through SD, DD, CD, and CA phases

Produce and review construction documents, details, and specifications

Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and code/permitting agencies (DOB, LPC where applicable)

Manage client communication on assigned projects, including meetings and progress updates

Mentor junior staff as needed

Maintain project schedules and ensure quality control on deliverables

Licensed Architect or actively pursuing licensure (NCARB record in progress a plus)

7+ years of experience, ideally including NYC residential or mixed‑use projects, and comfortable owning a project with minimal oversight

Strong technical knowledge of NYC Building Code, zoning, and permitting processes

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Monograph a plus

Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with clients

Self‑directed, detail‑oriented, and collaborative in a small‑studio environment

Qualifications
