WVLT is located in beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee. We produce 58 hours of local news per week on our CBS and CW stations. At the doorstep of the Smoky Mountains and on the banks of the Tennessee River, Knoxville is the 61st largest television market in the country. In addition to being home to the University of Tennessee's flagship campus, Knoxville sports a walkable downtown, sophisticated mix of culture and cuisine, a diverse and robust employment sector, advanced medical care, and amenities found in big cities, yet maintains a small-town feel.
WVLT-TV is seeking someone who is a driven storyteller and knows that photography is more than wide, medium, and tight shots. When it comes to a microphone, you use it as a tool for gathering sound and taking people to a place in time, rather than just an object for sound bites. As an editor, you'll be able to take a script and make it sing with natural sound and tremendous visuals that you've gathered in the field or pulled from our visual journalists.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Shooting videos and stills for our digital platforms and gathering information in the field
Operating laptop editors as well as live portable technology in the field
Collaborating with reporters and producers on stories
Maintaining equipment and vehicles as assigned by newsroom managers
Editing rundowns to provide quality and dynamic newscasts for our audience
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience in video photography and non-linear editing preferred but not required.
Must be able to work all shifts and have a clean driving record.
Knowledge of Sony PXW200/300 and Edius 9 is a plus.
Spanish speaking is a plus.
