Assistant Director of Athletic Communications/Video Coordinator

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications assists the Director of Athletic Communications in publicizing and promoting the efforts of Weber State University's 16NCAADivision I intercollegiate athletic programs. The position assists with the informational flow of materials for the entire Department of Athletics, including WSU's online presence, social media, the production of weekly and daily press releases and recaps, media guides, game programs and other methods of communication with the public and the local and national media. The position is also involved in video aspects of the department including shooting, editing and producing video features interviews and highlights. The position also distributes information about accomplishments and results on games and contests both online and through the media. The position works with a variety of sports and will serve as the primary Communications/Media contact for selected sports, while also assisting with other sports as determined by needs. This position shall have a strong working knowledge and understanding of allNCAArules and regulations regarding compliance issues. This position is very time consuming with considerable travel involved. This position presents constant pressure in meeting publication and statistical data deadlines both internally and externally. This position will help supervise and coordinate a team of interns.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Sports Administration or related field.
Minimum two years of experience in athletic communications or sports media relations writing
Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in a related field
NCAADivision I media relations working experience
Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills
Ability to package and communicate information to meet the needs of the media
Ability to work in a team environment with other staff members, coaches, student-athletes, members of the media and the general public
Ability to accept a flexible work schedule that includes nights and weekends
Proficiency in desktop publishing software, including InDesign and Photoshop.
Proficiency inNCAA-related statistical systems and website content management systems.
