Stage Manager

The Apollo Theater is looking for a Stage Manager for the upcoming production of Vape! The Grease Parody.

Dates:

Rehearsals begin August 3rd, 2026
Tech: August 17th-20th, 2026
Performances begin: August 20th, 2026
Initial Contract thru: January 3rd, 2027 (5 shows/wk thru Sept 20, 7 shows/wk starting Sept 22)
Note: You are welcome to apply with partial availability, as we will need subs throughout the run.
Pay:$25/hour (Performances paid at 4 hour minimum)
Position Overview:

Vape! The Grease Musical is seeking an experienced Stage Manager to support an upcoming production at the Apollo Theater Chicago. In addition to standard stage management responsibilities, this role will also be responsible for operating the lighting console during performances.
Responsibilities:

Oversee and execute all stage management duties during rehearsals and performances
Coordinate communication between creative, technical, and production teams
Call cues and maintain the smooth running of the show
Operate the lighting console during performances
Oversee put-ins of replacement cast members
Maintain accurate rehearsal and performance reports
Report all Production needs (prop repairs, perishables, etc.) directly to General Management
Qualifications:

Previous experience as a stage manager in a theatrical setting preferably with musicals
Experience operating a lighting console (ETC experience preferred, if applicable)
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Strong ability to deal diplomatically and often under pressure with creatives, actors, producers, house staff
Reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive
