We are seeking a passionate, community driven Community Editor to lead our editorial efforts in central Iowa. The ideal candidate isn't just an excellent writer, but a community connector who will dive into local government beats, compelling feature stories, and amplify local voices. Our newspaper is in a thriving, safe community with ample parks, a highly regarded public school, reasonably priced housing, and is easily accessible to nearby metropolitan areas.

Key responsibilities

Coordinate and lead local coverage of our town and county.

Produce cohesive, comprehensive news and feature stories.

Proficient in photography and an ability to post content and photos online.

Community engagement. Build effective professional relationships with readers, government officials, and local businesses.

Grow our readership by driving social media engagement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.

Prior reporting experience strongly preferred. Prior editor experience is helpful but not required.

Strong organizational, critical thinking, and multi-tasking skills.

Proficiency in MS Office and WordPress.

Proficiency in social media platforms helpful.
