The Director - Operations leads multiple physician practices within our service area. This position serves as the primary contact for physicians, APPs, and practice leaders, providing leadership in customer service, strategy, patient safety, financial performance, operational efficiency, growth, and employee engagement. The director monitors key processes to ensure continuous improvement, assists with provider recruitment, and leads organizational initiatives impacting all Baptist Medical Group practices. The role collaborates across the health care system with other leaders.
Responsibilities
Ensure physicians and APPs have the information and resources needed for excellent patient care, customer service, and practice panel growth.
Provide adequate training for practice leadership and support problem solving.
Monitor key processes for continuous improvement.
Ensure practice compliance with state and federal regulations.
Meet regularly with physicians and APPs to review financial, quality, and customer service data.
Ensure providers and staff understand and follow all company policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
Collaborate with support departments (Human Resources, Central Billing Office, IT, etc.) to achieve organizational goals.
Support practice managers in assessing staffing needs and filling openings.
Participate in annual budget development and work toward budget goals.
Maintain a regular presence in assigned practices through rounding.
Achieve agreed goals and objectives within specified time frames.
Deliver operational excellence, ensuring quality services per policies and professional standards.
Manage team members: orient, develop, evaluate personnel and oversee quality service delivery; recruit, interview, and select staff following policies and laws; evaluate performance; coach staff and recommend development programs.
Manage fiscal resources of the department responsibly.
Communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information effectively to staff.
Participate in professional organizations to stay current on healthcare policy.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree (required).
Minimum Work Experience
5 years management experience in a health care setting (required).
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Leadership for multiple practices and practice managers.
Knowledge of practice operations, government regulations, and standard policies.
Ability to resolve conflict and conduct difficult conversations constructively.
Knowledge of health care economics and physician practice finances.
Analytical skills to interpret and communicate financial information.
Knowledge of process improvement techniques.
Strong teamwork skills.
