Job Summary
The Multimedia and Graphic Design Manager will be primarily responsible for management, creation and oversight of graphic design efforts across the WVU Foundation, both digital and print, in collaboration with the Design Specialist and under supervision of the Director of Brand and Content Strategy. Other major responsibilities include content management and design work for websites that the Foundation maintains and print design for the Foundation. Additional responsibilities include some design and maintenance of HTML e-mail templates and providing strategy and oversight on design and content for units across WVU and WVU Medicine.
Understanding the needs and motivations of donors is important to the success of this role. The Multimedia and Graphic Design Manager is responsible for ensuring the donor is at the forefront of every campaign and that the messaging of the design aligns with copy and speaks to donors’ desires, passions and reasons for giving.
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Manages the WVU Foundation’s design creative brief process, providing design strategy and support, both print and digital, for event invitations and programs, display boards, AV slides, annual campaigns, annual reports, advertisements, greeting cards, etc. for the Foundation
Creates compelling designs across the Foundation, in collaboration with Communications, Donor Engagement and Annual Giving, including but not limited to: donor impact reports, stewardship pieces, campaign prospectuses, digital and print marketing collateral, gift proposals, fundraising materials, email communications, business collateral and branded templates, social media graphics, website graphics and content, additional Foundation communication materials
Develops visual concepts that effectively communicate fundraising priorities, donor impact and Foundation initiatives
Ensures all creative work meets quality, accessibility, and production standards while adhering to project deadlines
Assists with production schedule, timelines, and deliverables for multiple projects simultaneously
Ensures that all design projects are following University and Foundation branding standards
Works with the Director of Brand and Content Strategy to draft and refine web and email content for the Foundation as needed
Designs web graphics and edits photos as needed for wvuf.org
Responsible for proper formatting and design of internal and external Foundation documents
Manages Foundation staff photo directory; and keeps a file of stock‑like images for use in print and web communications
Helps maintain the Foundation’s digital media archive, including logos, photos, templates, fonts and more
Works with print vendor to provide art packages and ensure accurate printing
Designs internal communications, such as PowerPoint decks, infographics, and processes and procedures as needed
Is an expert in branding for the WVU Foundation, WVU, and WVU Medicine
Some design, preparation, and distribution of HTML email messages for the WVU Foundation and University units who do not have a designer on staff
Remote/hybrid work environment with some travel required to campus (4-6 times/year)
Other related projects as assigned
Qualifications
Education, Experience and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree required
Five or more years of experience in graphic design or related field
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign; fundamental to intermediate knowledge of HTML & CSS language; fundamental to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Experience with photo and video shooting/editing a plus, but not required
