Job Description

**Position start date: September 1, 2026**
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Engagement, the Assistant Director supports programming initiatives within the Development and Alumni Engagement Division. The Assistant Director plans, executes, and attends events for alumni, donors, students, and parents both on the DeLand campus and regionally across the country. Responsibilities include sourcing and managing vendors (venues, catering, rentals), overseeing attendee registration and event setup, and ensuring cost efficiency to deliver seamless events from start to finish.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
Plan and manage in-person and virtual events for alumni, donors, and campus partners that provide value, build alumni pride, and foster relationships and community.
Develop meaningful and creative programming that engages alumni with the university and one another.
Provide leadership, support, and direction to volunteers and program participants.
Manage event registration for all events, including on-site registration for Homecoming and other large flagship events within the Development and Alumni Engagement Division.
Utilize the university's CRM and event platforms to generate invitation lists, create RSVP forms, and report attendance data to event hosts and participating staff.
Collaborate with the alumni team and campus partners to coordinate event setup and programming, including room reservations, catering, and audiovisual needs.
Partner with Donor Relations on donor-specific event logistics as needed, including the management of athletic suites during the fall and spring semesters.
Collaborate with Academic Deans to support alumni events within their colleges and schools, including the annual Joint Board Meeting, and provide event support as needed.
Work with colleagues in Campus Life and Student Success to plan alumni engagement opportunities during Family and Friends Weekend, FOCUS, and Commencement that highlight Legacy students and families.
Plan home and away tailgates for alumni and parents in support of university athletic teams as needed.
Conduct post-event evaluations and prepare reports documenting outcomes, opportunities, challenges, and recommendations for future improvements.
Attend events, board meetings, and other functions as needed. This position may require travel and work outside normal business hours.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications : The ideal candidate will have:
Experience developing and implementing programs.
Experience working with volunteers.
Experience planning and managing events.
Work Environment:

The work environment is lively and energetic. Daily operations are primarily office-based; however, events may take place indoors or outdoors and occasionally require work outside normal business hours.
