Role Description

The Creative Communications Specialist is a part-time, hybrid role based in Columbia, MO, with flexibility for some work from home. This role involves developing and producing content for social media, email, websites, and digital advertising that aligns with client goals and brand voice. The specialist will collaborate with clients and internal partners to clarify key messages, support campaign planning, and ensure all content is consistent and strategically aligned. Typical responsibilities include writing and editing copy, assisting with basic design for social media and print assets, scheduling and monitoring posts, and updating website content. The role may also support communications training materials, reporting on campaign performance, and ongoing refinement of content strategies.
Qualifications
Content creation and writing skills, including experience with social media copy, email marketing content, website text, and basic storytelling for mission-driven organizations.
Strategic communications and marketing skills, such as message development, campaign planning support, and aligning content with organizational goals.
Digital and social media skills, including familiarity with major social platforms, scheduling tools, basic analytics, and Google Ads or other digital advertising tools.
Design-related skills, such as creating simple social media graphics, basic print design, and working within brand guidelines using tools like Canva or similar software.
Strong proofreading and editing abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to maintain consistent tone and quality across channels.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work directly with clients, receive feedback, and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Comfort working in a hybrid environment in Columbia, MO, with reliable technology for remote work and the ability to attend on-site meetings as needed.
Relevant education or experience in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field; experience with nonprofits or small businesses is highly beneficial.
