Communications Contractor – Media Relations

We are seeking a communications professional to provide temporary media relations support during parental leave coverage. This contractor will help manage day-to-day media engagement, develop messaging, and proactively identify and pitch stories that support business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Respond to incoming media inquiries and coordinate timely responses with oversight from media relations directors
Develop and refine messaging, talking points, and media materials
Identify proactive storytelling opportunities and pitch relevant media outlets
Support media monitoring and issue management as needed
Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information, complete final materials, and collaborate on strategies and execution to support business goals
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of communications and media relations experience
Proven experience engaging and managing media and building relationships with journalists on behalf of companies and organizations
Strong writing, messaging, and storytelling skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Duration: Approximately 3 months
Hours: 25–30 hours per week
