Overview Information Developer II – Technical Writer responsible for designing, developing, formatting, implementing and managing technical writing and content creation. This includes production labeling documents, manuals, testing procedures, and operational specifications, as well as documentation and illustration for hardware and software user guides, service and programming manuals, and electronic media including online help. The role involves managing revisions, translation management, and ensuring data integrity for internal quality and production standards.
Responsibilities Create structured content to produce end-user installation, operation and maintenance manuals, user instructions, quick start/quick reference guides, analytical procedures, and online help.
Apply reuse strategies and modular writing design to single-source content for web and print media; develop content suitable for 32+ languages.
Understand localization needs using Simplified Technical English rules, Global Visual Design Standards, and Localization Best Practices.
Manage complete translation processes with external vendors from scoping to delivering translated documents.
Collaborate with cross-functional, global product development teams (Product Management, Project Management, R&D, etc.) and incorporate customer feedback to develop end-user documentation packages.
Gather information through product knowledge transfer, interviews, usability testing, meetings, and communications to improve documentation quality.
Identify and implement improvements to documentation based on feedback, usability testing, and accuracy checks.
Update legacy FrameMaker content and convert unstructured books to structured topics and maps.
Plan and deliver outputs on time; prepare documentation for final production (print, online, translation management) and proof PDFs before/after delivery to vendors.
Qualifications BA/BS in Technical Communication, science, technology, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience in technical publication/technical communication, or at least 10 years of experience in the field.
Desktop publishing skills to create and manipulate documentation; proficient with DITA–XML and content management systems.
Experience with translation management systems; ability to maintain and adapt XSL-FO files is a plus.
Ability to illustrate complex technical concepts clearly; experience with SolidWorks, Corel Designer, or Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
Experience disassembling and reassembling instruments to create installation and maintenance information.

US compensation information: The posted salary range is $75,000 - $85,000 per year, with eligibility for bonus pay. This range is a point of information and may be modified. Final compensation is based on factors including education, experience, and location, among others. This role may offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off and health/dental/vision insurance and 401(k).
