Join Clarkson Potter and Ten Speed Press, two dynamic and visually driven imprints of the Crown Publishing Group, as an experienced, detail-oriented, and creative Senior Marketing Associate. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant contribution to the success of our award-winning and visually stunning list, encompassing food and lifestyle books, graphic novels, social justice and illustrated nonfiction, and children’s titles. Clarkson Potter and Ten Speed Press are home to some of the most iconic authors and creators of our time including: Martha Stewart, Dolly Parton, Meredith Hayden, Ina Garten, Amber Lewis, Toni Tipton‑Martin, Rebecca Yarros, Matika Wilbur, Ibram X Kendi, MrBallen, and many more.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self‑starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a genuine passion for lifestyle books, and a strong drive to learn and advance within our fast‑paced, collaborative environment. This role provides valuable opportunities to partner closely with Publicity, Editorial, Sales, and Design teams. Reporting to the Associate Director of Marketing, you’ll play a key role in shaping our imprints’ success.
Specific Responsibilities Include
Strategic Campaign Planning: Develop and lead inventive title‑marketing campaigns informed by market insights and consumer trends for forthcoming publications across a diverse list of titles.
Author Collaboration: Maintaining consistent and supportive contact with authors and agents, to maximize campaign impact, including the development of digital content, timelines, and integration across author social media and related platforms.
Partner Development: Cultivate relationships with external partners, influencers, and brands to broaden the reach of each title marketing campaign.
Collaborative Execution: Work closely across departments with editorial, publicity, sales, and creative services (including social media, email marketing, design, copy, media buyers).
Qualifications
3+ years of full‑time professional work experience.
Demonstrated experience in book marketing or related media (magazines, food, lifestyle).
A passion for books covering a wide range of categories across cooking, lifestyle, graphic and non‑fiction.
A strategic and creative thinker with a proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns from initial concept to final execution.
Exceptional copywriting and communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively to prominent authors and key stakeholders.
A collaborative, curious, and visually attuned individual with a broad range of interests, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
Excellent organizational abilities, including the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced work environment.
Ability to independently prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain a well‑organized and responsive communication flow.
Proven ability to establish and achieve goals within allocated budgets.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
An interest in or ability to design assets in Adobe Photoshop or Canva a plus.
Experiencein consumer or brand marketing with the ability to define target audiences, set goals, measure conversion/sales, synthesize metrics/data, and manage budgets is a plus.
Additional Information
This is a hybrid position requiring 2–3 days per week in the office. We strongly prefer candidates who can commute to our New York City, NY office, but we will also consider candidates who can work a hybrid schedule from our Emeryville, CA office.
The salary for this position is $65,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
