About The ATCB

The Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB) is the independent credentialing body for the profession of art therapy. Our mission is to protect the public by promoting the competent and ethical practice of art therapy through the administration and maintenance of professional credentials.
As a nationally recognized certification organization, the ATCB establishes eligibility standards, administers the national certification examination, oversees continuing competence requirements, and administers an ethics program that supports public protection.
Position Summary

The ATCB is seeking a Public Member to serve on its Board of Directors.
The Public Member serves as a full voting member of the Board and provides an independent perspective that represents the interests of the public and consumers of credentialing services. Public Members play an important role in ensuring that Board decisions remain focused on public protection, fairness, transparency, and accountability.
No background in art therapy is required.
Responsibilities

Attend and actively participate in Board meetings.
Review Board materials in advance of meetings.
Contribute to strategic planning and organizational governance.
Participate on Board committees or task forces as assigned.
Exercise independent judgment in the best interests of the public.
Maintain confidentiality of Board discussions and materials.
Comply with the ATCB Conflict of Interest Policy and Code of Conduct.
Support the ATCB's mission of public protection.
Desired Qualifications

Experience serving on a nonprofit, regulatory, healthcare, educational, or corporate board.
Experience representing consumer or public interests.
Knowledge of governance, finance, law, ethics, healthcare, education, public policy, or organizational leadership.
Strong communication, critical thinking, and collaborative decision-making skills.
A commitment to ethical leadership and public service.
Candidates should be able to evaluate issues objectively and contribute perspectives that differ from those of credential holders.
