The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative was founded in 2015 by Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg to harness the power of technology to pursue some of society’s most ambitious goals — from curing or preventing all disease to transforming how students learn.
At CZI, you’ll join a deeply collaborative, mission-driven community where your work helps drive breakthroughs across our flagship nonprofit organizations, Biohub and Learning Commons. Whether enabling scientific breakthroughs via open science and AI-powered biology or strengthening the tools teachers and students rely on every day, your contributions help turn bold ideas into real-world impact.
Our teams operate at the intersection of innovation and scale, building the infrastructure, partnerships, and capabilities that allow scientists, educators, and innovators to tackle some of the most complex challenges of our time — and to do so with urgency, integrity, and optimism.
The Team
The Biohub Communications team shapes how the world understands our science, our people, and our mission. We partner with researchers, engineers, and leaders across Biohub to tell stories that make cutting-edge science accessible, inspire collaboration, and highlight the breakthroughs that are advancing our understanding of biology and disease.
Our team brings together expertise in media relations, brand, content, creative, digital communications, and social media to engage audiences ranging from the global scientific community to policymakers, partners, and the public. We believe the most impactful communications are grounded in curiosity, creativity, and scientific integrity—and we use storytelling to build trust, spark conversation, and amplify the discoveries that have the potential to transform human health.
As part of the Marketing & Communications organization, you’ll collaborate with a talented, mission-driven team that values experimentation, thoughtful strategy, and bold ideas. Together, we’re building a distinctive voice for Biohub that reflects the ambition of our science and the people behind it.
The Opportunity
The Biohub social media team is looking for a Senior Social Content Strategist to help bring Biohub’s brand and mission to life through engaging creative and stories across social channels. This role reports to the head of social media and will be a part of the larger Marketing and Comms organization where you’ll have the resources and guidance you need to do your best work.
You're someone who's genuinely plugged into social media — you know what's working on X LinkedIn, and Instagram right now, and you have instincts for turning complex, technical material into content that people actually want to engage with. You'll create content across our owned channels, translating ambitious science into stories that are clear and compelling.
This is a hands-on creation and strategic storytelling role. You’ll be brainstorming ideas, shooting and editing video, writing copy, and helping shape our social calendar day to day.
What You'll Do
Creative Content Ideation and Creation
Brainstorm, shoot, edit, and produce social-first content across formats — short-form video, carousels, photos
Embody the Biohub social voice and tone and ensure content aligns with brand style and creative standards
Translate the innovative scientific and technical work that the team at Biohub is leading and turn it into engaging social-first content
Keep a pulse on social trends, new features, and algorithm changes to ensure content feels timely and native to each platform
Monitor content performance and manage community engagement
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with the social media, creative/brand, and science communication teams to source and shape content
Work with Biohub scientists and staff to surface stories, milestones, and moments worth sharing
Capture content and provide occasional on-the-ground social support at events, launches, and conferences
What You’ll Bring
4+ years of experience creating, editing, and publishing social-first content, preferably at a brand or agency
Ability to take complex topics and translate them into engaging content
Understanding of how content should be tailored for specific platforms, especially LinkedIn, X, and Instagram
Familiarity with design and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Canva, CapCut, or native in-app tools)
Strong writing skills and an eye for how copy and visuals work together
An interest in science, technology, or mission-driven work — you don't need a science background, but you're curious and willing to learn
Ability to work across a fast-moving, cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders
