Senior Copywriter, Brand & Performance (Freelance/Part-Time)

Pattern Brands · Dearing, KS, USA ·

Job type:
Seasonal

Role Overview
We're looking for a versatile copywriter who can move confidently between brand storytelling, packaging, editorial content, ecommerce, and direct response.
This is not a role for someone who applies the same formula to every channel. The right person understands how copy needs to change depending on where and how a customer encounters it—from a few words on the front of a package to a detailed PDP or long-form conversion page.
You should be highly creative, strategically sharp, and able to translate complex briefs into copy that is clear, differentiated, and genuinely interesting.
AI is part of the modern creative process, and we expect this person to know how to use it effectively for research, exploration, and iteration. Just as importantly, you must have the judgment and writing ability to recognize generic AI output, challenge it, and rewrite it until it sounds distinctly human and true to the brand.
Key Responsibilities
Develop brand and campaign copy across three consumer brands
Create editorial concepts, seasonal themes, campaign narratives, and content stories
Write packaging, PDP and ecommerce, paid social, and direct response landing page copy
Translate detailed briefs into clear, compelling customer-facing messaging
Adapt copy appropriately by channel
Ensure all work is on-brief, brand-aligned, thoroughly proofread, and complete before review
Revise and optimize copy based on stakeholder feedback, customer insights, and performance results
What We're Looking For
Up to 10 hours per week on an ongoing contract basis
Proven experience writing for DTC or consumer brands
A versatile portfolio spanning brand, ecommerce, packaging, editorial, and performance copy
Excellent writing, editing, grammar, and proofreading skills
Strong judgment around messaging hierarchy, clarity, tone, pacing, and repetition
Experience translating technical, functional, or complex product information into accessible, customer-friendly language
The judgment to identify and substantially improve generic, formulaic, or AI-generated copy
Ability to overlap with EST working hours for collaboration, feedback, and live iteration
